Bistec ensebollado (Sour Steak with onion)






Serves 6

Prep time: 20 min.

Total time: 40 min., plus marinating time

 

Ingredients

1 cup Distilled White Vinegar
 
1/3 cup water
 
1/4 teaspoon salt

1 tsp. Adobo with pepper

1 tsp. minced garlic

¼ tsp. dried oregano leaf

1/4 cup olive oil

6 4-6-oz.cube steaks, pounded to ¼” thickness

3 large yellow onions, sliced into ¼” rounds

 

 Directions

In a large bowl, mix together vinegar, water, adobo, salt and oregano. Add steak and onions to oil mixture, tossing to combine. Cover beef; transfer to refrigerator. Marinate at least 1/2 hour.

Heat oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef, onions, and marinade to the pan; cover the pan and cook, stirring occasionally, until onions turn translucent and beef is cooked through, about 10 minutes.

Serve over white rice with red or black beans on the side and some fried sweet plantains, top with onions and drizzle sauce from meat on top.
